Hi, I’m Betsy.

Welcome to Diary of an Ordinary Mama. I’m so glad you’re here.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that ordinary life is rarely as ordinary as it seems.

I’m a wife, a mom to two incredible kiddos, a former teacher, and someone who has spent the last several years learning what it means to heal, grow, and embrace the beautiful mess of real life. My days are filled with school drop-offs, appointments, sports practices, laundry that never seems to end, coffee that rarely stays hot, and quiet moments in the garden where God often reminds me to slow down.

But beneath all of that is a deeper story. I am passionate about creating a space where mothers feel seen—not because we’ve figured it all out, but because we’re willing to be honest about what the journey really looks like.

Here you’ll find reflections on motherhood, faith, neurodiversity, parenting, personal growth, chronic illness, mental health, trauma recovery, marriage, and learning to care for ourselves without carrying guilt for doing so. I write about the things many of us quietly wrestle with: the pressure to perform, the fear of not measuring up, the weight of loving our children so deeply, and the freedom that comes when we realize our worth was never something we had to earn.

My family has walked through medical challenges, anxiety, ADHD, and seasons that have stretched us in ways I never expected. My own journey has included navigating autoimmune disease, chronic illness, and healing from past wounds while learning to work with my highly sensitive, neurodivergent brain instead of constantly fighting against it. Those experiences haven’t made life easy—but they have shaped my perspective, deepened my compassion, and strengthened my faith.

I don’t claim to have all the answers.

I’m simply a mom asking questions, sharing what I’m learning, celebrating small victories, and trusting that God faithfully meets us in the middle of ordinary days.

If something I write helps another parent feel a little less alone, reminds someone that healing is possible, or encourages another weary heart to keep going, then this little corner of the internet has done exactly what I hoped it would.

So whether you found your way here looking for encouragement, practical parenting wisdom, a good laugh, or simply someone who understands the messy middle of life…

Welcome.

I’m grateful you’re here.

Let’s walk this journey together—one ordinary day at a time.
